Carlos Barreiro was born on November 4 in Havana, Cuba. He studied and graduated as a civil engineer, a profession he held until 1994. Carolos is a self-taught artist who has been devouring art from late 1994. He has since participated in exhibitions and cultural projects in, among other places, Lisbon , Madrid, Paris , Brussels, Boston , New York , New Jersey, Miami and Havana.
Carolos is the founder of Havana Gallery, Chicago, USA and is the founder and director of the cultural project and Gallery, Space 52, Havana, Cuba. He has also worked as an art dealer in Space 12 Gallery, Boston. His works can be found in numerous private collections across the globe including in USA, Mexico, Canada, Chile, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, UK, Greece, Croatia, Austria, Latvia, Germany, Switzerland, Cyprus, Norway, Israel, Jordan, Iceland, Australia, Luxembourg and Cuba.
Carolos expresses his visions and inspirations as very Cuban where he uses Cuban newspapers, documents and is inspired by the Cuban color and light. His paintings and collages are profound and strong where he describes them as having energy and vibration yet at the same time being tender. Carlos concludes that “Art is my friend”!!
